Jim, Co-host/Visionary
Jim was the original visionary behind Exit Glacier Cabins, dreaming up a place where families and adventurers could feel truly at home in the Alaskan wilderness. With over 20 years of using nightly rentals, he brought valuable insight into what makes a stay exceptional—and he now brings that same care and attention as a dedicated co-host.
Jim’s knowledge shaped everything from construction to layout to guest touches, and his passion continues to guide the property today. You’ll still find him onsite, tools in hand, always making improvements and never settling for “good enough.” For Jim, there’s always a way to make the experience even better.

Built by Family, Fueled by Passion
Building Exit Glacier Cabins was truly a family affair—powered by big dreams, long days, and a whole lot of heart. It all started when the property was purchased in 2021 and groundwork began that fall. From day one, The Team had help every step of the way. Joey, Jim's nephew and Sara's brother, traveled up from Missouri on multiple occassions to handle the heavy lifting and foundational work, while Ian, Jacob's best friend, lent his carpentry skills whenever he was on dry land. Together with incredible local contractors, The Team designed, built, and added every finishing touch with care.

By 2023, The Whale and The Moose were open to guests, followed by The Black Bear, The Grizzly, and The Polar Bear in 2024. It took countless hours, a few scraped knuckles, and plenty of sweat and love to bring these cabins to life. Today, Exit Glacier Cabins stands as a labor of love—crafted by family, for families (and adventurers of all kinds) to enjoy.
